From the 17th Century novels The Plum in the Golden Vase and Water Margin (one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature), Pan Jinliang is one of the most well known vilenesses of classical Chinese culture. As an ideal femme fetale, she is the patron goddess of sex workers.
